{"id":1702,"date":"2014-08-08T11:43:11","date_gmt":"2014-08-08T11:43:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/?p=1702"},"modified":"2014-08-08T11:43:11","modified_gmt":"2014-08-08T11:43:11","slug":"hoshin-kanri-strategic-planning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/08\/hoshin-kanri-strategic-planning\/","title":{"rendered":"Hoshin Kanri, strategic planning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this small series of posts related to application portfolio management, I wrote about the <a href=\"http:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/2014\/07\/30\/your-application-portfolio-goes-wrong-why\/\">issues I found in a &#8220;problematic&#8221; portfolio<\/a> and about\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/06\/application-portfolio-fixing-approach\/\">tools &amp; methodology<\/a>. The next component I wanted to write is about the strategy to put in place the improvement plan I have prepared.<\/p>\n<p>I had an idea about how to do it and after creating my own way solution I started to look into quality management blogs and other sources of information. I found <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hoshin_Kanri\">Hoshin Kanri<\/a> and I am now in the process of adapting my solution to it.<\/p>\n<p>In my favor, I have to say that I was not too far of the principles and steps to take, so I&#8217;m happy with it.<\/p>\n<p>The added value Hoshin Kanri provides to me is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some specific graphs and jigs that enable me to visualize the link between strategy, actions, measures and performance.<\/li>\n<li>Confirms to me the need to involve the right people, get commitment, insist on continuous communication and to have a clear picture about the main metrics required to walk in the right direction and do not lose the focus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Being simplistic, it is a DMAIC focused on the strategy for a plan, but it is the recommendations and key areas proposed on this area the ones who are taking<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/08\/hoshin-kanri-strategic-planning\/hoshin-kanri-joapen\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1703\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1703\" src=\"http:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Hoshin-Kanri-joapen.jpg\" alt=\"Hoshin-Kanri-joapen\" width=\"439\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"http:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Hoshin-Kanri-joapen.jpg 439w, http:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Hoshin-Kanri-joapen-300x184.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 439px) 100vw, 439px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this small series of posts related to application portfolio management, I wrote about the issues I found in a &#8220;problematic&#8221; portfolio and about\u00a0 tools &amp; methodology.
