Some of the concepts and materials shared were interesting, but some others were not new.<\/p>\n<p>This first picture identifies the components of the digital business: the &#8220;things&#8221;. It&#8217;s nice, and it separates concepts and enable you to see along the time or maturity curve.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/2015\/07\/02\/the-journey-onward-to-digital-business\/the-journey-onward-to-digital-business\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2348\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2348\" src=\"http:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/The-Journey-Onward-to-digital-business.jpg\" alt=\"The Journey Onward to digital business\" width=\"974\" height=\"641\" srcset=\"https:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/The-Journey-Onward-to-digital-business.jpg 974w, https:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/The-Journey-Onward-to-digital-business-300x197.jpg 300w, https:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/The-Journey-Onward-to-digital-business-456x300.jpg 456w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 974px) 100vw, 974px\" \/><\/a>During the same meeting the need of improving the models from delivery to engagement, was exposed in this way:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/2015\/07\/02\/the-journey-onward-to-digital-business\/from-delivery-to-engagement\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2349\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2349\" src=\"http:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/From-delivery-to-engagement.jpg\" alt=\"From-delivery-to-engagement\" width=\"943\" height=\"339\" srcset=\"https:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/From-delivery-to-engagement.jpg 943w, https:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/From-delivery-to-engagement-300x108.jpg 300w, https:\/\/joapen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/From-delivery-to-engagement-500x180.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 943px) 100vw, 943px\" \/><\/a>This second table is not something new in the professional services world, in fact it is a very old concept that is repeated and repeated since years.<\/p>\n<p>The definitions provided are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Instigating: Causing a colleague or team to take action;inspiring new business. solutions through technology.<\/li>\n<li>Attuned: Total awareness of business levels; reciprocal business awareness of IT capabilities.<\/li>\n<li>Educating: Explaining what is possible in intelligible terms.<\/li>\n<li>Partnering: Working with others to address &#8220;pull&#8221; and &#8220;push&#8221; demands.<\/li>\n<li>Diving: Stimulating demand; developing capabilities in advance of need<\/li>\n<li>Attentive: Anticipatory focus on customer needs and demands.<\/li>\n<li>Efficiency: Maximizing deployed resources.<\/li>\n<li>Consistency: Reliably meeting a set of expectations constrained by a budget, skill requirements, and so on.<\/li>\n<li>Responsiveness: Aware of demand and able to address it in SLAs.<\/li>\n<li>Timeliness: Responding and delivering on time; meeting commitments.<\/li>\n<li>Frugality: Balancing time, cost and quality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is also a concept called &#8220;Bimodal IT&#8221;, which relates to the fact that the capabilities of the IT environment has to be able to: first be enough mature to take care of the new challenges and, second be enough flexible to adapt to changes. The concept itself is not new, and I really think this is more a marketing term to sell at consulting level.
