The cloud could be defined as a way to deliver and consume information technology services.
It is an emerging market / industry, the National Institue of Standards and Technology (NIST) is defining better all aspects around the cloud.
A model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources…that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction.
To identify is something is “cloud” try to look for these features:
- On-Demand Self-Service
- Broad network access
- Resource pooling
- Rapid elasticity
- Measured service
