San Antonio Spurs is a NBA franchise that cannot be explained without mentioning his President and Head Coach Gregg Popovich. Since they picked Victor Wembanyama as #1 draft and they just extended Popovich for other 5 years, I think is a good moment to start reviewing how things evolve in this city of Texas.
2023 – 24 Season
The value chain of the franchise has a lot of green components at organization but all is an unknown at team level. Wemby has a lot of potential, but it needs to be materialized.
In terms of evolution, my view this summer of 2023 is:
- They jump from tanking to building, with a clear anchor on Victor Wembanyama and Gregg Popovich guiding this building.
- Team, players and Victor are in its genesis, a lot of potential, but that need to be turned into real value. It’s expected a lot of moves on the roster during next 3 years.
- Finding the right players fit around a player as Victor is a long term exercise.
