Trane Technologies ($TT)

What is a traditional cooling company doing investing in immersion cooling for data center clients?

Well, this is what I have read about it. The first thing that took my attention was the number of acquisitions they recently did.

Acquisitions in the data center space

  • February 2026, Stellar Energy Americas, Inc. a provider of turnkey data center cooling solutions.
  • May 2026, LiquidStack and its advanced immersion cooling technology.
  • February 2026, CSTK is a Termo King (one of Trane’s main brands) sales and service dealer.

Then my next question was,

Who are Trane Technologies clients in the data center business?

There is no official list, NDAs is something present here. However, based on their official product lines, public partnerships, and market presence, Trane’s data center client base is categorized into 2 buckets:

The Strategic Blueprint Partner: NVIDIA

NVIDIA is not a direct “purchaser” but is Trane’s most high-profile public partner (who do not want to have a partnership with NVIDIA nowadays?).

  • Trane has co-developed comprehensive thermal management reference designs engineered explicitly for gigawatt-scale AI factories.
  • Their systems are customized to cool the intense heat generated by NVIDIA’s Blackwell (GB300 NVL72) and next-generation Vera Rubin architectures.
  • Because Trane’s equipment is baked directly into NVIDIA’s “blueprints,” any major cloud company building an official NVIDIA AI Factory is heavily incentivized to purchase Trane equipment.

2. Hyperscalers (The “Big Tech” Clouds)

Trane explicitly states that a massive portion of its data center pipeline comes from hyper-scale environments. These are the companies building massive, warehouse-scale AI clusters:

  • Who they are: They do not mention it but I guess you know the names.
  • What they buy: They buy Trane’s massive industrial solutions:
    • Sintesis GVAF free-cooling chillers (which can handle extreme high-density loads in ambient temperatures up to 54°C),
    • and massive industrial heat pumps used to redirect data center waste heat back into local city grids.

I would also say that Multi-Tenant Data Centers companies are also clients of Trane Technologies, not just hyperscalers.

A Wardley map of their main 2 businesses

Immerse cooling technology has been there since some years ago, but there was no clear path for high volume of investment. But this has changed. Data centers growth due to AI and mining purposes is making the demand of this technology to be high.

In Paraguay, where Itaipú Dam provides cheap electricity; a set of mining companies around bitcoin emerged some years ago. Companies as HIVE Digital Technologies which is operating 200MW capacity, is investing in immerse cooling too.

Takeaways

This is not a recommendation for investing.
